Steady streaming flow induced by active biological microstructures; application to small intestine villi

چکیده
Physiological transport of fluid at small scales is often achieved by microscopic active fingerlike structures. It recognized that they have to move in a non-symmetric fashion order break the symmetry creeping flow and induce net movement fluid. However, limit low, but non-vanishing, Reynolds number, irreversible on long time could also be generated symmetric oscillations these microstructures. Inspired intestine villi, we reported three dimensional direct numerical simulations part flow, namely steady streaming (SSF), an array oscillating In capture second phenomena, algorithm was based combination lattice-Boltzmann methods with two relaxation times smoothed profile method. SSF confined inside viscous boundary above villi. Two vortices tip villi characterized this which induced mass transfers between bulk periphery. Strikingly, spatial extension not solely governed Stokes layer lateral confinement Moreover, secondary outside were observed. These findings rationalized state diagram showing regimes SSF. Finally, orders magnitude showed should contribute particles, such as bacteria or nano-particles, few hundred micrometers scale minutes.

We consider incompressible viscous flows between two transversely vibrating solid walls and construct an asymptotic expansion of solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations in the limit when both the amplitude of the vibration and the thickness of the oscillatory boundary layers (the Stokes layers) are small and have the same order of magnitude. Our asymptotic expansion is valid up to the flow bou...
متن کاملActive Sugar Transport by the Small Intestine
Tris-disrupted and intact brush border membrane preparations from mucosa of hamster jejunum were capable of preferentially binding actively transported D-glucose in a similar manner. Density gradient centrifugation of the Tris-disrupted brush borders indicated that D-glucose was bound to a fraction containing the cores or inner material of the microvilli. The properties of this binding were exa...

Six years experience of blunt abdominal trauma leading to small intestine Perforation in Loghrnan-e-Hakim Medical center. Between Sept. 1982 to Sept. 1988, 24 cases of abdominal blunt trauma leading to perforation of small intestine were managed at Loghman-e-Hakim Medical center. All the cases were treated surgically either by debridment and repair or resection and anastomosis, with no mortal...
متن کاملIsolation of epithelial cells, villi and crypts from small intestine of pigeons (Columba livia).
The isolation of viable enterocytes, villi and crypts from the small intestine of a feral bird (Columba livia) is important for performing physiological experiments in ecologically relevant processes of membrane transport. The effectiveness of mechanical disruption, enzymatic digestion and chelating agents were compared. The objectives were to isolate enterocytes, villi and crypts from the smal...
